As one of the busiest ports in the world, maritime safety is a top priority for #MaritimeSingapore. To that end, the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (#NMSSC) works closely with the #MPA-industry work groups on various initiatives, including the International Safety@Sea Awards presented by MPA to deserving individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to safety at sea.
Today is the #WorldDayforSafetyandHealthatWork. Let’s hear from two companies on how they look after the safety, health, and wellbeing of their employees.
One of them is Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) – a recipient of MPA’s International Safety@Sea Awards last year. The company also received the Singapore Registry of Ship’s Welfare Notation for its effort in driving crew welfare.
These initiatives include regular health and safety campaigns that are conducted to reinforce the importance of #workplacesafety and enhance #safetyawareness on board their vessels. PCL also initiated a 'Stop Work for Happiness' Day, where all work on board ships are paused for team-building activities, emphasizing health, safety, and environmental protection for seafarers.
