Environmental sustainability is an integral part of our business practices, policies and operations. We remain steadfast in safeguarding the environment by ensuring compliance with all relevant local and global environmental laws and regulations. These include regulations and guidelines from the International Maritime Organization, Flag State, Classification Society, Port States, Rightship, BIMCO, INTERTANKO, INTERCARGO, The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and other relevant stakeholders.
PCL is focused on managing our environmental footprint by reducing emissions. We continuously seek to ingrain in our people the mindset of continuous improvement and everyone at sea and shore working collectively towards a common goal to ensure environmentally safe operations.
Our sustainability journey includes the following corporate activities:
Training and Establishing Environmental Work Practices
Having good training, consistent work policies, and procedures double down our commitment to protect the environment. We ensure that our environmental system covers all regulatory compliance including all MARPOL annexes. Continuous verification of environmental compliance and processes is achieved by dedicated internal and external audits. Seafarers’ performance and understanding of environmental aspects are covered under these audits.
Monitoring and Reducing Emissions
As the world navigates towards a greener future, we acknowledge the need to be proactive and take initiatives to preserve and protect our environment. We use systems to track and mitigate our vessels’ emissions and seek eco ships as a part of our fleet expansion/renewal plan. All our new vessels with the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan comply with the Energy Efficiency Design Index.
Energy Efficiency and Optimisation
We have a team of experts onshore who analyse our vessels’ energy performance and advise on the deployment of energy-efficient solutions. They also explore streamlining onboard operations to reduce duplicate work and waste.
