We had an absolute blast yesterday evening as Pacific Carriers Limited marked a monumental milestone—the celebration of PCL's 50th anniversary!
The evening was filled with laughter and heartfelt interactions. We had the great privilege of having the Espinosa family, a dear business partner to us for 35 years, as well as Mr & Mrs Teo Joo Kim, Mr & Mrs Kuok Khoon Kuan, Mr Wu Long Peng and other previous PCL leaders that laid the strong foundation for PCL.
The evening commenced with Mr. Hor Weng Yew, Managing Director and CEO of PCL and Mr. Kuok Khoon Ean, Chairman of Kuok (Singapore) Limited, expressing gratitude and appreciation to the people who have been a part of PCL’s success.
Looking back, we are deeply thankful to the people and communities that have contributed to PCL’s growth, and we carry an obligation to reciprocate. In the spirit of giving back, we were delighted to make a contribution of S$1 Million to the MaritimeOne Bursary Fund as pioneer donor, which is a new bursary programme by the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) to support the education of students looking to join the maritime sector.
The dinner culminated with the unveiling of a time capsule that will carry well-wishes and aspirations for PCL’s future. The first few wishes to be placed in the capsule were donated by Mr Kuok Khoon Ean, Chairman of Kuok Singapore Limited Group, Mr Hor Weng Yew, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PCL, Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Finance & Transport and Mr Niam Chiang Meng, Chairman of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Guests at the dinner were also invited to give written or digital well-wishes.
The crowd had great fun networking, reminiscing, sharing stories, and seeing each other’s caricature drawings done at the event! Many were overjoyed by the opportunity to reconnect and catch up with long-time colleagues and old friends. The great excitement and energy at the dinner was representative of the partnerships, friendships and relationships that PCL has been blessed with.
Cheers to each and every one of you!
Stay tuned for more updates, thrilling adventures, and more PCL50 celebrations!
As one of the busiest ports in the world, maritime safety is a top priority for #MaritimeSingapore. To that end, the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (#NMSSC) works closely with the #MPA-industry work groups on various initiatives, including the International Safety@Sea Awards presented by MPA to deserving individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to safety at sea.
Today is the #WorldDayforSafetyandHealthatWork. Let’s hear from two companies on how they look after the safety, health, and wellbeing of their employees.
One of them is Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) – a recipient of MPA’s International Safety@Sea Awards last year. The company also received the Singapore Registry of Ship’s Welfare Notation for its effort in driving crew welfare.
These initiatives include regular health and safety campaigns that are conducted to reinforce the importance of #workplacesafety and enhance #safetyawareness on board their vessels. PCL also initiated a 'Stop Work for Happiness' Day, where all work on board ships are paused for team-building activities, emphasizing health, safety, and environmental protection for seafarers.

The #SeaAsia exhibition was launched by Mr. Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Sustainability and Environment after a boisterous and upbeat lion dance performance yesterday.
At the three-day event, 300 exhibitors from more than 70 countries, 10 national pavilions convene to share the latest marine technology, how to accelerate the decarbonisation journey and how can the industry unify and achieve net-zero. It serves as a convergence platform for insightful discussions centred around innovation and sustainability and offers plentiful of networking opportunities for the like-minded industry players.
We are excited to see our KSL colleagues coming by our booth to show us support! Thank you everyone for making time to bring us cheer at the MBS Expo and Convention.
Come and join us at our booth in Hall E, B2 J11.
