We are pleased to announce the delivery of the first of four Singapore-flagged MR2 Tanker Partridge Pacific on 10th February 2023 from K Shipbuilding, Jinhae, South Korea. The vessel has embarked on her maiden voyage from South Korea to Taiwan on 11 February. This latest addition will take PCL’s tanker fleet to 13.

PCL has a longstanding partnership with K Shipbuilding having built five MR2 Tankers at K Shipbuilding with deliveries in 2020. Their innovative design and state-of-the-art production methods are imperative in ensuring we deliver our services responsibly and reliably while meeting our long-term emissions target.

Our 2020-built MR2 Tankers are built to the “Super-eco” design, notably, four of them are accorded the Green Ship Programme Certification from the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore in 2020. Partridge Pacific is Tier-III NOx compliant, built to the latest eco-friendly, efficiency-enhanced design and is fitted with Exhaust Gas Cleaning System on board. Our commitment to reducing carbon emissions in our operations strengthens the focus on design innovation. Henceforth, our vessels are coated with a high-performance hull paint system and incorporated with energy-saving devices to further improve our fleet’s performance.

It has been a pleasure working with the K Shipbuilding team and we are thankful for their dedication and support in our endeavours to make vessels more eco-friendly. Additionally, our thanks to every party who has partaken in the construction process especially the site team, the newbuilding design and technical teams and the vessel’s new joining Officers and crew for ensuring delivery safely and on time. We wish the team the very best for the successful completion of the remaining three units.

Lastly, we wish our seafarers onboard the Partridge Pacific fair winds and following seas!

PCL is pleased to announce our collaboration with ABS with the signing of a joint development project (JDP) to study methanol as an alternative fuel for the PCL fleet. Mr. Hor Weng Yew, CEO of PCL said, “ This partnership with ABS and PaxOcean is part of PCL's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 or earlier. With methanol gaining maturity as a marine fuel, we believe it has great potential to significantly reduce our carbon footprint in the short to mid-term. This study will serve to identify the options we have to adapt our existing ships to handle methanol effectively and safely.”
