PCL is elated to announce that we are awarded the Safety@Sea Award 2022 (Corporate Category) this year amongst other well-deserving nominees. Our CEO, Mr. Hor Weng Yew attended the International Safety@Sea Conference in person and received the award presented by Ms. Quah Ley Hoon, Chief Executive of Maritime Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Safety is rooted in our culture and winning this award is the best recognition of our continuous effort in ensuring optimal operational safety across our fleet and in our workplace. We have instilled in our people the mentality to learn and adopt the best safety practices, and to remain compliant with our safety procedures and policies. Going forward, we will continue strengthening our safety enforcement capabilities and committing ourselves to the highest safety standards as we strive to achieve zero incidents and accidents.

The MaritimeONE internship programme is a collaboration between the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and the industry to cultivate and grow a maritime-ready talent pool. PCL had the pleasure to work with SMF to provide tertiary students with an internship for them to gain experience in the maritime sector beyond classroom learning.

Our interns Xin Yin, Lin Si and Jemima who joined PCL in May have recently completed their internship. Through their internships, these new talents had first-hand exposure to the maritime sector and what it is like to work in the real world. Our internship curriculum is designed to involve students in real-life projects under the mentorship of our senior executives to provide them with a holistic learning experience. At PCL, these interns have gained not only a practical perspective of the industry operations and dynamics but also built a sense of accountability with enhanced teamwork abilities.

We sincerely hope that these aspiring students will continue to pursue their passion and find their niche in the industry in the days to come.

After two years of muted National Day celebrations, Singapore’s 57th birthday celebrations return with a bang this year!

We have gone through an extraordinary time together (as a nation) in the two and a half years. However, the downbeat economic situation worldwide did not dampen the communal spirits as the united citizenry rises to the challenge in solidarity. Our battle with the coronavirus is far from over but we are moving forward with renewed hopes, and a stronger sense of optimism each day.

We have drawn valuable life lessons from this global pandemic, molding our character during times of adversity to become a better version of ourselves. Aligned with the theme this year, “Stronger Together” let us continue to forge ahead and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever.
