It has been more than two years since our last physical employee engagement event. Transiting into the ‘new normal’, PCL and POSH have convened in Manila for a Townhall and sea staff seminar from 11th-14th July 2022.

During the Townhall, PCL CEO Mr. Hor Weng Yew and Fleet Director, Capt. Lee Chee Seong shared the Company's recent developments focusing on key highlights in the business, talent management and operational arenas. Undaunted by the headwinds during the pandemic, our people have gone above and beyond the call of duty. CEO took the opportunity to celebrate staffs’ stellar achievements and pay tribute to their tireless efforts and extraordinary contributions. Their commitment to delivering exceptional results at work is well appreciated by the Group, particularly staff who received the KSL Spot Award. It was a meaningful sharing session and the post-event dinner fostered stronger employee engagement. The Executives’ presence at the townhall served as a morale booster to propel the staff to strive for continued growth.

Mr. Hor, Capt. Lee and POSH COO Mr. Ulva Chai set the tone for the seminar after a round of rousing welcome speeches. Pertinent topics were discussed avidly including key highlights on the importance of operational safety and driving operational excellence, ESG, etc. Our business leaders also weighed in on the forward-looking direction and outlook of the KSL Maritime Group and how we could align our coordinated effort to build a sustainable, green future together as One Team.

Some of us may have been on cruises and ocean getaways for holidays but how often do we get to experience what is it like to be onboard a cargo vessel? PCL is delighted to organise a ship visit for the PIER71™ team who went onboard Ikan Landuk, a dry bulk carrier that is currently docked at the PaxOcean shipyard. The guided tour was led by Senior Manager, Fleet IT Communication, Ron Fong, Superintendent, Azfar Athan, Capt. Looi and Fourth Officer Shawn.

The team had the opportunity to visit the engine control room, navigation bridge to gain a deeper understanding on the intricacies of the machinery and operational expertise involved to keep the ship moving. We hope the tour has given the team a novel behind-the-scenes experience aboard a cargo ship as well as an insight into the life of shipping crew during their voyages.

In commemoration of the International Seafarers Day on 25 June, Ministry of Transport has specially created a video interview with the seafarers. We are delighted to share that Capt. Hisyam, PCL Marine Superintendent was selected as one of the interviewees featured in this video.

Check out the interview to find out more as Capt. Hisyam debunks the career myths in maritime and shares what inspires him to join the industry. We look forward to more such meaningful collaborations with the authorities and key stakeholders in future!

The 25th of June every year is a meaningful day for the maritime industry. Today, we would like to pay tribute to all seafarers who have been playing a vital role in keeping supply chains and global trade running during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.  It may be years before we could conquer the coronavirus but even the most challenging healthcare crisis could not deter our unsung heroes of shipping. Their unyielding spirit continues to shine through as they work tirelessly round the clock rain or shine.

Let us be reminded of all the men and women who have borne extreme hardships during troubled times and honour their courage with gratitude in our hearts. May you stay safe throughout all your voyages.
